The Temple

“The Temple“ has a sense of peace that will calm you, an allure that will seduce you and a vibe that will thoroughly enchant you. Sleep to the sound of the waves collapsing onto the beach below and wake up to the birdsong emanating from the native bush that envelops the home.

Nestled into the Iron Range hillside with a stunning panoramic view of the Coral Sea, "The Temple" was originally built as an emplacement for a 155mm gun turret, the Australian military's front line defence against invading Japanese forces.

During the mid 80's, the gun emplacement was converted into an architectural masterpiece by a craftsman shipwright utilising timber he'd salvaged from the decommissioned wharf which once took pride of place in the sleepy fishing village of Portland Roads below.

"The Temple" is 100% off the grid and caters to all the modern comforts and conveniences the Cape York weary traveller could desire.
